THE SHOW DAY CLASHING OF DATES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—As one who is interested in agricultural affairs, 1 was sorry to notice, in your Saturday night’s issue, that the Forbnry Park Trotting Club could not see their way to alter the date of their opening meeting on the people’s day of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s show. This day was originally declared as a halfholiday on account of the show-, and I feel sure that the 1 rotting Club, by persisting in holding the meeting on that date, will alienate public sympathy. If the Trotting Club are desirous of getting the support of the country people, why could they not hold the races on the Thursday and Saturday, leaving the half-holiday for the people's day at the show unimpeded by counterattractions? The society are doing good work in Otago in furthering the interests of the community, and therefore deserve every support from the public. If the Trotting Club cannot arrange to alter their dates, it is to be hoped that the Agricultural Society will alter the dates of the show to cither a week earlier or a week later.—l am, etc., Abrtcttltttrist. October U.
