SCHOOL COMPETITIONS
In tho Volunteer Hall on Saturday night tho Green island School Competitions were continued. The programme was supplied chiefly by the fmh-prizo winners of the previous two nights. The prize essay ‘ Coal,’ was read by tho winner, Mks S. Eanz. The Green Island Presbyterian Church choir, winners of tho Dunedin Competition, were ako present, and rendered the pieces which wore sung at the Dunedin Competitions. The lolly and flower stall again did good business, as ako did the refreshment stall. There were also a handkerchief tree and a Christmas tree, and competitions in sweets, scones, cakes, and other line-s of baking, also of knitting, sewing, fancy work, and wood work, dressed dolls, and handkerchiefs.
