Under the agreement the Connell grant leave to the Gas Company to lay the mains to Miramax and the neighboring boroughs, under direction of the CouncLTs requirements, on payment of £6O a year for tewnty-one vears, and thereafter of £IOO a year, unless the Council buy the Gas Company out i of Melrose, The Council therefore, accordmg to the, mayor, maintain the principle of their control over their streets.
