AVIDE-WORLD PICTURES. To-night the usual weekly change take! nlaee at the Princess Theatre, where such large numbers have congregated nightly during the past week or two. In the line of scenery and instructive Home the foremost films are «Logging in Canada,' ' Gotta Canal and Troihafcten Falls,' ' Scenes in Plana,' 'The Resin Indjstry,* etc. The programme also makes provision for thoss who love dramatic art, and the winning of the King's Derby, 1909, should prove a draw to the sporting community. BURNS CLUB. Since ever the Dunedin Burns Club shifted their place of meeting to the Art battery Hall the attendances a.t. the social moetmgs haje increased, and at last mght'B monthly gathering there were, perhaps, more than have over been present. The audience, like the programme, wan ' almost purely Scotch, and the entertain- > mont went through with that swing and brightness which is characteristic of such gatherings. President A. Bain, in the courso of his opening remarks, expressed delight at so largo a gathering. Be then made feeling reference to the death recently of Mr ,T. H. Morrison, once a prominent member of tho club, and called the audience to their feet whilst the piper played a lament. Before tho chairman had spoken the Peltit family gave an orchestral selection of Scottish airs, and afterwards Pipe-major J. M'Callum stirred the feelings of those present with a lively bagpipe selection. Songs were contributed by Misses E. Mills. Sangstor, May, Pound, J. E. Duff, and Messrs Dobbio.'.F. Sligo, George Swann, R. Mackenzie, B. Bennett, R. R. Robson ; aud a duet, the ' King's Heroes,' by Messrs W. Dickson and R. R. Uobson was one of tho foremost, items. Two recitations were given, Miss Nellio Galloway reciting 'Kissed in the Tunnel,' and Miss Isabel Forrester ' Ponarby Mine.' Miss M. Dunett gave a pianoforte Rejection 'Scottish .Mrs,' and the Misses Frame danced a Highland fling. A humorous sketch, 'Ho and She,' by Miss Nellie Galloway and Mr A. Griffiths, caused much merriment. The choir, under the directorship of Mr A. M. Braik, sang 'Blue Bonnets.' and at the close of the programme 'Ye hanks and'braes.' Miss K. Wright gave satisfaction as accompanist. 'Hie programme, was a lengthy one. and it is a point worth mentioning that every performer turned up. The concert was a, thorough siiccesM. except in regard to Iho door-keeping arrangements. Halfway through the list of items tho Rev. ]). ])ut'ton occupied about a quarter of an hour with a short address on 'Burns as a' I'atriol.' The speaker was listened to with much interest, his remarks being instructive, and humorous.
