Mr Keir Hardie, speaking in Northumberland, advocated a general stoppage of work on the British coalfields in order to support the Scottish miners. He said he wanted to see the solidarity of the working class movement exemplified in this straggle. 160 MINERS IMPRISONED. "LONDON, July 19. One hundred and sixty miners, who were summoned at Gateshead for non-pay-ment of damages for the stoppage of work at a pit, have been sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment. The men were imprisoned in batches.
