Mr Paulin’s .forecast: —Squally to a gale X.W. to S.W. winds, and heavy rain showers. Mr Bates telegraphs:—Northerly strong winds to a gale; glass fall; tides good, sea, heavy; rain probable. A CTimtchurch telegram states that the rainfall for the year to date is 12.20 in, thanks to the phenomenal downpour towards the end of last month, but since then the rainfall has- been virtually nil. Up till lust night no rain fell in April, but .006 was recorded this morning.
