NELSON HARBOR.
A DAY OF REJOICING. [Per United Press Association.] NELSON, April 19. the steamer Rakaia was the first ocean liner to enter ths harbor, thus opening Nekon to direct trade with the great markets of the world. She entered the new rat on this morning's tide safely and buceessfully, and was skilfully berthed at the wharf dv Captain Collins, the pilot lhere was a great crowd at the wharf and on the surrounding hills, cheers beinct given by the public. ' . The officers will be entertained by the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon, when tne captain, will receive a souvenir presentation. The Rakaia takes 14.000 sheep from the local meat works. The vessel is flyin" bunting in honor of the occasion. °
