SITTING OF THE COMMISSION

CHRISTCHURCH, March 10. The first sitting of the Commission of Inquiry into the charges against (the management and employees of the Addington Railway Workshops was hold to-day. Professor R. J. Scott was chairman. Messrs J. J. Nivon (Napier) and E. Roberts (Dunedin), the other Commissioners, were ako present. Mr A. L. Beattie, Chief Mechanical Engineer, represented the officers of the locomotive branch. Tho Chairman said the meeting that day was purely formal, and adjourned it_ till 10 a.m. next day, after making visit* of inspection to the works in order to obtain finstr-hand information.
