AMUSEMENTS.
WESTS PICTURES. On Saturday, at His Majesty's Theatre. West's Pictures were shown both in the afternoon and in the evening, and on each occasion this most commendable entertainment secured liberal patronage and hearty appreciation. .This evening there will be a complete change of subjects for the last two nights of the season. One of the most attractive studies to be presented is entitled ' From New York to Paris by Motor,' and for fantastic ideas and creations, besides the comedy introduced, it is claimed to rival the famous picture 'The Trip to the Sun.' This picture describes in colors the adventurous journey over land and sea by two intrepid explorers. ]>ramatic incidents are introduced in 'Sold by His Parents,' ' Nick Carter's First Adventure,' ' Brothers in Arms,' ' A Roman Idyll'; scenic effects include 'The Fountains of Versailles,' ' A Voyage on the Nile'; and the programme will be fully supplied with comic devices, including 'The Quickchanging Mesmerist,' 'The Playful Dancing Bear,' ' A Prehistoric Man,' and ' Mistaken Vocations.' To-night and to-morrow evening are the last two opportunities of enjoying West's Pictures. The company will visit Mosgiel on Wednesday evening. WIDE-WORLD PICTURES. The Wide-World Company' 6 present programme drew a large audience on Saturday. The series, which includes a fine film depicting life in Burmah, is an excellent one in every respect. A woid of praise is due to the orchestra, for the inciaental music supplied by them. THE CHERNIAVSKIS. The reUirn season of three nights commences at the Burns Hall on Thursday evening. The management, through our advertising columns, call attention to tho fact that in order that musical students shall have an opportunity of hearing these musical marvels a special tariff of admbsion will be granted to bona fide students on application at the Dresdan Piano Company's warehouse, where the box plan may also be seen. KAIKORAI BAND. T3**iß»js- night the Kaikorai Band will give anotner of their biograph entertainments at Carisbrook. The pictures are again a first class selection, and the programme by the band includes several wellknown and popular selections. Special cars run to "the ground. BAND AT ST. CLAIR. Attracted by the beautiful afternoon and by the fact that the Kaikorai Band were playing at St. Clair, a very large crowd assembled on the beach. The band, under Mr G. B. Laidlaw, played an excellent selection of music. The programms included the following:—March, 'With Sword and Lance'; overture, ' Zampa '; concert waltz, ' Hydropaten'; selection, 'Mozart's Twelfth Mass'; hymn, ' Sandon ' (by spacial request); march, ' Mussinin' (Karl Karl).
