METHODIST CONFERENCE.
[Special to the Star.] WELLINGTON, March 6. The first business this morning was the Sunday School report., which was accepted as very satisfactory. It was decided to recommend all Sunday schools to adopt a system of grading on the lines of the International Sunday Schools Association. A marking system and issue of diplomas wore also considered, and the Marion Lawrence system was agreed to. The arrangement with regard to the ‘ Outlook ’ was allowed to continue for another year. The Committee set up consists of the ministers and superintendents of the Dunedin, Mornington, Roslyn, Port Chalmers, and Mosgiel circuits, together with Mr W. C. Ailnutt and Sister Annie. The remainder of the morning was taken up in discussing Home Mission and Church Mission affaire. The income last year was over £4,200, the highest, on record. The extra expenditure required this year by the appointment of a home missionary secretary (the Rev. T. G. Brooke) is £SOO. It is hoped to raise this amount before the Conference closes, each representative making himself responsible for a certain sum. [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 6. It was decided that for one year the probationer at Auckland Exist circuit bo removed. The sum of £lB7 was promised for the maintenance of an organising secretary of the Home Missions. The estimated cost is £525, and the amount contributed to tiro Home Missions Funds was £4.213. The grants for the year will bo decided on Monday. Most of the recommendations of the Sunday School Advisory Committee Ikivc been approved.
