An early and a. friendly settlement of the Casablanca incident is expected. LIGHT ON THE CASABLANCA INCIDENT. LONDON, November 9. (Received November 10, at 8.20 a.m.) ‘The Times’ say® that Germany insistently presses for the recognition of particular German consular rights, and that France calmly but courteously refuses to recognise the German Consul’s right to protect deserters within the sphere of* active military operation?.' It is non- stated that the consular official did not disclose his identity when the scuffle at Casablanca began, and that when he did reveal his official character the affray immediately ceased.
