‘The Story-teller ’ for October (per J. Briiithwaite) is Cassell and Co.'s contribution to the demand for sensational, topical, aiid -interesting fiction. It is perfectly legitimate for a reputable firm to meet this not over-exalted demand; in fact, if the, business has to bo done, it is far better that it should be in the hands of the best .. purveyors of.-ephemeral literature. The ‘ Story-teller’ -may contain some-im-probable or even foolish stories, but all axe by persons of character and repute. There are twenty short tales and one long tale in 'the above, and the names of the authors are a sufficient guarantee of their quality.' They include .Alary E. Maim, Max, Baring-Gould, Banry Shell, James Barr, and Airs H. H. Penrose.., ‘Suggestive Therapeutics’ has been sent us by the secretary; who writes; “The proprietors are Air D. Shaw, Christchurch, metaphysician, and Mr F.
