BE GUIDED PT OTHERS’ EXPERIENCES. The Case of Mr. R. H. FLETCHER.' [BY A LOCAL REPORTER.) Absolute hunger is nob a trial which is usually familiar in this country, and however much imagination may take the place of experience the realisation of its terrors cannot be very vivid unless they have been endured ; but when all the evils of life are reduced to their elementary forms, sickness is undoubtedly tlve most real, and it is to save our fellows from- hardships in that respect that such aid as the following was solicited by a reporter from Mr. Robert Henry Fletcher, of 9 Hope-street, Dunedin, who said ; “ Some four years back my health was in a very queer state indeed. It was after the busy season of Christmas time that I found my nerves had collapsed under the heavy strain, but I was in hopes that the rest I would get during the holidays might have the effect of bracing me up again. It was not to be, however, and instead of getting better I got considerably worse.” “You mean that other complications arose ? ” suggested' the pressman. “ Just so , for one thing Lexperienced the disadvantage of losing my appetite, as I could noteat anything with the least degree of relish, and the unfortunate part of it all was, that the small quantity I did partake of did nob do me any good. Quite the reverse, iu point of fact, for then I had all the unpleasant sensations of indigestion to contend with, not the least annoying of which was a great sense of oppression in my chest, as if what I had swallowed had stopped .here and turned to stone. Troubles were further augmented through the fermentation of the food, which brought about a very uncomfortable sensation in the stomach when it became filled with wind, and I differed very much with a sort of headache tike a throbbing in my templea. It was a ’■'ery unhappy Christmas for me, but I would not have minded that so much if I had only got better and been a»lo to start work afresh.” “ You were suffering some time, then.” “ Yes, unfortunately ; and all the doctor’s medicines and patent medicines could not alleviate my distress. I grew more languid and melancholy than ever. Signs of kidney disorders cropped up, and I was persecuted with acute pains across the loius, which made it a misery to walk. A yellow' fur spread across my tongue, showiug the bad state of my internal organs, and I always had a vile taste in the mouth, in the mornings especially. Restlessness at nights was another thing that helped to increase my weariness, and 1 did not seem any better even when I did get % little sleep, for I felt so wern out at the beginning of each day that I did not care how things went. I used to have dreams like the nightmare, and when I got up from bed in the mornings my limbs almost ached for the want of strength. The doctor said it was my nerves that were causing all the trouble, and no doubt he was right, for they used to shake terribly, and another indication of my nervous affections was that my mind was always upset with thoughts that were never agreeable, I used to get one little worrying idea in my mind, and 1 could think of nothing else for hours. It was a life of wretchedness that I was leading, and I am thankful that at last I purchased some Clements Tonic and set myself free.” “How did you some to take Clements Tonic ! ” “ Through reading some testimonials about it, and I think I ought to give one iu return to guide those who are s ill suffering. It was a wonderful difference which Clements Tonic made in me, steadying my nerves, making me eat, and overruling my internal disorders so completely that soon my digestion was all right, It-wos a perfect cure for flatulence and chest pains, and for making me sleep well I give Clements Tonic the palm over everything. In course of time the pains across my loins had taken their departure, and I was intensely gratified to find that my kidney disorders had been remedied, because the symptoms belonging to that complaint were gone, and with each oottle of Clements Tonic my vitality increased remarkably. When my nervous system was pn-perly balanced again I had Bo anxious thoughts to worry me, and when I could resume work with the same vigor as before my illness I sincerely thank-d Clements Tonic, for it bad made a healthy man of me.” ’ “ Can I make use of your statements?” “ You can publish them to the whole World, in any form you like.” STATDTORT DECLARATION. I, Robsbt Husky Flbtcmir, of No. 9 Hope-street, Dunedin, in the Colony of New Zealand, do solemnly ana sincerely declare that I have carefully read the annexed document cons-eting of two (olios and consecutively numbered from <one to two, and that it contains and is a true and faithful account o( my illness and cure by ClementsiTonic, and alto contains my full pemiirsion to publish in any way my statements—which I give voluntarily, without receiving any payment; end I make this solemn declaration conscientiausly believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the previsions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Z.aland, intituled “The Justices of Peace Act, ISSi" Declared at Dunedin, this (thirtieth day of March, tee thousand nine hundred and three, before me, - » ■ ....AUIGS.J.P.
