AMATEUR ATHLETICS. j . The ordinary meeting of the Otago Cen- i tre, New Zealand Amateur Athletic As- * sociation, was held last evening, Mr J. B. \ Callan, jun. (president), in the chair. Mr I W. Lang (retiring president) oongraiu- j lated Mr Callan upon his election to (be office of president, the newlv-electod president returning thanks. A "letter was received from the New Zealand Council, covering copy of resolution in which the ! Council upheld the illegal action of the president of the N.Z.A.A.A. in advising I that the seven gentlemen nominated by' the Otago delegates were ineligible for' seats on the Council. It was resolved that j the president and secretary be instructed to frame a letter of protest, pointing out I J* 16 inconsistency of the president and | Council's action and other points in the rules, unfavorable to the ruling of Mr* Atack. An application for reinstatement. from N. C. Rollitt, Waipori, was recoinmended for the favorable consideration of the Council. The president, secretary, and Mr L. Anderson were appointed a | sub-committee to deal with reinstatements ! and correspondence of an urgent nature. It was resolved that a letter of sympathy .• bo sent to Mr L. M‘Donald, Oamaru, expressing the Centre’s profound sympathy : in the great loss he has sustained by the death of his wife. The Bank account showed a credit balance of £l9 10s 9d. PORT CHALMERS SAILING CLUB. A large number of members attended the i annual meeting of the above club Yesterday evening. Mr W. M'Cormock presided. 1 lie Committee submitted the annual report and balance-sheet, which they were pleased to be able lo say was satisfactory. The sailing races throughout the season were keenly contested. The many close finishes reflected great credit on the handicappens. There were three races for first class yachts, the Annis coming first and Matua second. Bronzewing carried off the honors in ibe 20-footons* Shamrock being a good second. This boat also won the championship. In the keel-boat class first place fell to the Doris, Kelpie ooming a good second. The latter boats were sailed by boys under eighteen yeans of age, and they showed considerable skill. As these lads were the ooming yachtsmen, the incoming Committee were recommended to encourage them by increasing the value of the trophy lo be awarded in the keel-boot class for the ensuing season. Tlie balance-sheet showed a credit of £3 6s 7d, and all debt had been cleared off the shod, which, together with other club property (all in first class order), was valued at over £IOO. The Committee hoped the members would continue to sliow the same lively interest in their dub as they had hitherto done. The thanks of the club wore due* to Messrs Emerson and Peters for ‘he trophies they presented for competition, and thanks were also due to those who had donated to the funds. Mr W. Morgan, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, complimented the members on the prosperity of the club and the progress made during the post season.—-The report was adopted. FuUarton • delegates to O.Y. and M.8.A.. Measm D*. Wall and E. Kncwslubb; delegate to Otago Regatta Committee, ]\tr G. L, Asher. Mr E. Knewstubb reported on business transacted by the Association. It was decided to have a club race on the opening day, the date to be decided on by the Committee. In the vote of thanks to the retiring officers special mention was made of the services rendered to the club by •retiring Commodore R. Bauchop.
