New Xnox Church opened November 5, 1876. In September last the State of Arkansas (U.S.) declared in favor of Prohibition by a majority of 15,000. There is to be a monster temperance demonstration by young people in Dunedin on the 14th inst., under the auspices of the local Christian Endeavor Union. The owners have brought an action for compensation, claiming £26,385. Tho Government's offer was £16,0C0. Parihaka captured November 5, 1881. The Corinthic brought 670 passengers to Wellington yesterday, 228 of the number being assisted immigrants'.
