Judgment Summons.—Walter A. Scott v. Alex. Graydon, claim £4 12s 9d, on a judgment summons.—Defendant, who did not appear, was ordered to pay forthwith, with cost 6 (12s), or. indefault'seven davs' imprisonment. Alleged Negligence.—Mary Margaret Shearer, an infant four and' a-half -rears old (by her next friend ami father, William Shearer), sued Samuel M'Cracken to recover £4O as damaegs for injuries, received through alleged negligence of Albert Hamilton, a carter in ihc employ of defendant.— Mr Hay appeared on behalf of the plaintiff, and Mr Harden for defendant.—Mr Hay stated that on July 25 last, at Caverfcham, Albert Hamilton, a carter employed' by defendant, negligently drove' a horse and cart along David street, Caversham, and in consequence of such the plaintiff w;is run over and sustained r«rious bodily injury, having four ribs broken. The child was crossing over the intersection of David and Marion streets, when a horse and cart, driven at a walking pace by Hamilton, inflicted the injuries on the little girl. A witness would dejKieo that at the time the accident occurred Hamilton had not .hold of the reins, and seemed to be rolling a cigarette. The fact that the 'horse was going at a walking pace showed that the accident could have been easily avoided. Tlnj occurrence of the accident in the circumstances clearly showed that the driver was guilty of negligence. The child still suffered from the effects of the accident.—Evidence was given by Mrs Shearer. William Shearer, Dr Butment, Mosos James Beazlcy, (Left sitting.) CITY POLICE COURT. (Before T.
