Tho action in sending the police is strongly criticised 011 all sides at Broken Hill. , Air Griffiths, the member for Sturt, referred to the matter in the Areembly, and the Chief Secretary staled that the In-spector-General of Police had deemed ithis duty in view of oortaia utterances made at .Broken Hill to stre.igthen the force there. Air Griffiths came in , conflict with the Speaker, and after a stormy scene he was suspended. As lie refused to apologise, his suspension was made defnitc. Air Qriffltlis subsequently resigned bis seat, in order that his constituents might not be disfranchised.
