SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The Albany Street School Committee held their,monthly meeting last evening, Air J, H. Wilkinson being in the chair. The head master reported the number on the roll as 695, and the average attendance as 621. The attendance shield bad been held by Standard I. with 97 pey cent., Standard 111. with. 98 per .cent.. Standard 1. with 96 per cent., Standard 11. with 97 per cent., and Standard 111. with 08 per cent. The Otago School Cricket (junior grade) Banner, won by the school last season, was forwarded, along with thirteen representative caps for th© team. It was resolved that a special vot© of thanks be accorded to Mr C. G. Wilson, the donor of the banner, for his kindness in presenting such a handsome trophy, and also to Mr W. AI ‘Laren,. first assistant, for the keen interest taken and assistance rem dered by him to the team. It was der cided that the school “ break-up ”, for the midsummer holidays take place on Wednesday, December 16. The Committee gave their approval to a concert by. the senior girls, to be held ip the gymnasium on Friday afternoon, November 5, pro l ceeds to be in njd of .the School Cricket Club. Mr Wilkinson was appointed' trustee for the school savings bank, vice Air Nicolson, resigned., Mr Duncan Wright notified that the Bible Class would break-up on November 18, and invited the Committee to be present. Messrs Wilkinson and Dempster were appointed to represent the Committee on the Schools Athletic Association. Alr .Aitken and Mr Smith were appointed visitors.
