PRINCESS THEATRE. The Wide-World Pictures attracted an-, good . audience last evening. ' The great, Biblical picture ‘ Samson and Delilah’ was a masterpiece of kinematdgraphy, and ■the other films, which were of a very varied character, were also exceedingly good. WESTS PICTURES. After a most successful tour of the North Island West’s Pictures and D© Groom's Viceregal Orchestra will commence a short season at the Princess Theatre on Friday next. We are promised a selection of pictures all new to Dunedin, and so extensive, is {he stock of films carried by the company that there will be frequent changes of programme. and the standard’of excellence set by Mr West will no doubt;- be fully maintained. An added charm is the delightful music of Mr L. De Groen's Vice-regal Orchestra, whose selections and incidental numbers, ever bright and always in good taste, ’do much'to enhance the beauty of a splendid Entertainment.' MISS FLORENCE BAINES’S SEASON. The members of the ‘ Miss Lancashire, Limited,’ Company pass through Dunedin to-day per the s.s. Alaheno on their way to Christchurch, where they open on Saturday next, after a very successful Melbourne season. New Zealanders will have the opportunity of seeing Miss Baines and the original company who appeared throughout Australia. At the conclusion of the Christchurch season of two weeks Miss Baines occupies the Princess here, the season beginning on Saturday, November 21. . ‘THE MIKADO.’ Another splendid house greeted the fifth performance of the above at His Majesty's Theatre last evening. Dunedin is rarely slow to express its appreciation of excellent work or to reward those who have catered for its entertainment. No prolessronal company have staged the ‘ Mikado ’ more lavishly, and remembering their lack of experience the amateurs who have taken the principal parts have done better than was hoped for. This is the opinion of those who know whereof they speak. Koko and Katisha have strengthened their original excellent representations,. and Pish Tush is now one of the strong characters. Last night Mr Munro, who understudied the part of Pooh Bah, went on in place of Mr Corrigan, who had to leave for Melbourne. The sixth and last performance ,will be given to-night.
