SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of.the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held at Christchurch. last night to consider the position in regard to the election of the new Council. It was decided to approve of the chairman's action. It was pointed out that if a change of headquarters was desired there was a constitutional way of bringing it about, by taking a mail .vote of the centres. ROWING. At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Auckland Rowing Association, held last evening, the resolution passed previously in favor of holding the regatta on Auckland Harbor was rescinded, and the question of whether the regatta be held on Auckland Harbor or on the Waika.to River course at Mercer will be decided next week. The following crews from the Port Chalmers Rowing Clu.b have been selected to row for the Stevenson Cup: —J. Clark (stroke), J. Love, J. Smith, J. Rennie; G. Lightbourne (stroke), N. Jones, J. Moller (commodore) presiding. The following officers were elected:—Commodore, Mr H. E. Moller (re-elected); vice-commodores— Messrs W. Gruitt, W. T. Barker, A. Montgomery, and J. Blackie; captain, Mr T. Bolton ; deputy-captain, Mr E. French ; hon. treasurer, Mr R. M'Cullough; auditors, Messrs E. Kellet and .W. T. Barker; delegates to Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club—Messrs T. Blackie, W. Gruitt, T. Harridge; delegate to Otago Athletic Societies' Protection Society, Mr R. M'Cullough; General Committee—Messrs A. Callon, E. Kellet, A. French, J. Moulin, R. M'Clintock, A. Grant, S. Smith, J. Baird, G. Kellet. Mr C. George was appointed secretary at a fee of £5 per annum. LAWN TENNIS. The following have been selected to practise with a view to selecting the Otago team against Canterbury at Dunedin on the King's Birthday:—R. R. Brown, S. N. Brown, J. S. Sinclair, H. W. Bundle, C. J. Braithwaite, A. E. Harraway, R. Bauchop, W. Bray, G. Gower, and P. Seelye. F. B. Alexander and B. C. Wright, the challengers for the, Davis Cup, are expected to arrive in Sydney by the Vancouver boat on November 2. Norman Brookes is to be asked to captain the Australasian team, and A. Chomley has been appointed referee in the Davis Cup Match, subject to the approval of the American competitors. Final payments for the Melbourne Cup, to be run next Tuesday, are due this afternoon. . The Lark was included in error in last week's payments for the New Zealand Cup.
