The Health Department reports that the number of scarlet fever cases arc steadily decreasing, but that measles are very prevalent throughout the City and suburbs.

The question of the City Council assisting the cricket clubs using the North Ground by having it top-dressed was before the General. Committee yesterday, when it was decided to get a report on the matter with a view of doing something to assist the clubs. Dr Valintine, the Inspector-General of Hospitals, who inspected the Rock and Pillar Sanatorium, was well pleased with what he saw there. Pie left for Wellington yesterday, and will return to Dunedfn early in December to attend the meeting of the combined bodies, to be held on the 11th of that month, to consider the question of the reception of incurable consumptives in the Benevolent Home.
