NORTH OTAGO MARKETS. [Special to the Stab.] OAMARU, August 17. Consequent upon a freer movement in flour more inquiry was experienced last week for wheat, and some sales were made at 4s Id, less commission, at country stations. The sales at that figure include lines of 500 sacks of mixed velvet and redchaff. 500 sacks of Tuscan, and 300 sacks of redchaff. Some smaller parcels have been sold at 4s net at country stations. Offers on a slightly lower basis than these figures have been made for considerable lines, bat no business has resulted so far.
Oats are exceedingly dull, and transactions have been limited to a few small parcels at Is lid net at country stations. Chaff is also slow of sale, ‘and £3 5s net, sacks extra, lias been the best price given to growers. No shipping business has been done.
Potatoes are in some demand from tbe North Island, and the decline in values reported last week has been fully recovered. To growers £4 net at country stations has been given for both Derwante and Un-to-Dates. Shipping orders have been filled f.o.b. at from £4 12s 6d to £4 15s for Derwents, and from £4 10s to £4 15s for Updo-Dales. A fair inquiry is being experienced for seed Up-to-Date« and other white varieties, and sales have been made at £4 15s and £5, f.o.b.
