RETROGRADE ROSLYN.

TO THE EDITOB. Sir, —I am es/tremely pleased "to read your article ' Economy in Exoelsis' in to night's 'Star.' I have no doubt there are dozens who agree with it, aad I trust that eome of them will use their pens in upholding C'r Washer's romarks on the state of our roads and footpaths. They don't d-esorve the name of roads. The best thing the Council can do with them now is to plant potatoes in some, so that we might get eome money out of them to repair the others with, or elso let us borrow £IO,OOO and make them fit to drive or walk upon. Let us hear from some others, please.—l am, etc., Clean- Boots. August 14.
