Daw- ' foil and Bond were sent off with the ba"s, ami laiil a trail over the hills at the back of CargiU's Castle. At the outset of tho run the pack divided, and the swifter division remaining behind managed to secure the wrong trail, which led them into the vicinity of Green Island, eo were late in arj riving home. After the run the members , returned to the Gicencliffe Tea Rooms, I where they were hospitably treated bv the j Club Committee. 1 On Saturday the Dunedin Anglican ' Harriers ran from the St. Clair School : Gymnasium. H. D. Bedford and A. C I Smith were despatched with the bass, and j laid the trail along the second beach, and . ' climbed the track leading to Cargill'e Keeping to the left of Cargill's Caetle and slurring the corner of the St. Clair golf , links, the trail kept close to the edge of I the hill till above the coves, when it : struck off to the- right, and, passing two or three farmhouses and traversing ploughed ; fields and other broken country, it came ! out on the- road which merges into the i grr.psy path leading down to the Green j Island beach. Having followed this path on to the beach, the trail kept to the sand for a little before it struck across the sandhills, and after some fairly steep climb- ■ ing it found itself on the hill above Mr Lc-3 i Smith's property, from where an excellent view of the sea at Brighton, Saddle Hill, the Maungatuas, ° and the snow - clad mountains behind them was obtained. From this point the homeward turn was made. After wme good cross-country running on the hills behind Green Island and Burnsido, the trail came towards Mr Sidey's. and skirting the back of Ids property, came j out on the road in front of the St. Clair I golf-house. Descending the steep steps, ! the homeward trail lay along Valpv street, St. Clair, and finished with a sprint down Forbury road back to tiro gymnasium. After the run the deputy-captain kindly provided the members with refreshments. The fact that none but the very best of harrier country was met with the whole afternoon, combined with the mire fresh air on top of the hills, made 'he nn -i'.e of the most enjoyable yet held this season. 'J he club were very pleased to welcome Mr H. D. Bedford, of the Y.M.C.A. Club, and hope to have the pleasure of his company flgain. " ( Before their usual run on Saturday the St. Ivilda Harriers decided a half-m>"le handicap at Forbury.
