ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
ANSTUAL MEETING. The forty-second annual moating of the AcclinKUtiijiluioii Swie'ty was held this afternoon, Mr K. Oiiciilioiljn presiding. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report, suid toit for the first time in the hbatorr of the society they kid to olirc-niole the death of two energetic members of the Oc-uncil —Mr A. C. Begg and Mr Simon M'DonaLl. Mr Begg was the man they were indebted to for the introduction of 'the • little owl into the Dominion. He took the greatest interest ; n the society, with which he had been connected for idjouit •t'lurty years. Anglers especially were indebted to Mr M'DonaM for keeping the Walter of Lcil-h in the best possible condiftior.. The tuning licenses during t'lie year had fallen off, being about 104 less than the previous year. ladies' licenses in particular had dropped considcnilbly. It w«6 gratifying, however, to know Unit the deer licenses had increased. The diminish in the number of Celling licenses was due to the dry season.
