SENIOR GRADE. The fourth round of matches commenced on Saturday. Two out of the three senior games were in very interesting stages when stumps were drawn. Dunedin v. Opoho. Opoho and Dunedin met on the Caledonian Ground. Opoho went to the wickets first, and scored 138 runs. James Timlin (38) played some nice strokes on the oft. Mackersy bowled excellently. Dunedin put on 129 before stumps were drawn. Dolamcre made a nice 32, and CTamond treated the spectators to a fine exhibition of hitting. Webb bowled one no ball. Catusdrook A v. Grange, There was an excellent wicket out at Carisbrook, and Grange winning the toss made first use of it. Their first wicket fell before a run was scored, but then for a time things went very well with them until after about one and a-halt hours play they had 108 on the board, with only four wickets down. This was.largely duo to tbe fine batting of Ogg, who showed sound dofenco combined with good punishing powers. He was dismissed after milking 66 rnns in about eighty minutes, Martyn, who caught three batsmen outduring the innings, taking him cleverly behind the wickets. After Ogg’s dismissal no one made much of a. stand, and the innings closed for the comparatively small score of 135. Carisbrook made a promising start, the second wicket falling at 43, nut when stumps were drawn they had lost six wickets for 86. The game is now in a very interesting position. SCHOOL MATCH Christian Brothers A defeated Normal by an innings and 65 runs. Christian Brothers made IJ2, and Normal made 12 in the first innings and oo in lho_ second innings. Sydenham boat St. Albans by 14 runs on the first innings, the scores being ; Sydenham, 219; St. Albans, 205 and 210 for six wickets. Linwond beat East Christchurch by 175 nuis on file first innings. Limvood made 295 and 222, and East Christchurch made 117. WELLINGTON. —On Saturday Midlands secured a win against Old Boys on the first innings. Midlands closed their first innings with eight wickets down for 303. Old Boys were in a minority of 141, and succeeded in averting an innings defeat by playing out time and scoring 119 for three wickets. Tucker contributed 63. The highest seorers for Midlands -wore Patrick (62 not ont). Mans'on (56), Williams (51), Wynyard (39), Bruce (28). Tim match Pet-one v. Gas Company ended in an easy win for Potonc. The Gas Company made 78 and 140 (MTvay 48): and Potonc made, 215 and 22 for three wickets. Wellington defeated Newtown on the first innings. Tho latter’s first innings last week yielded 232, and to this Wellington responded yesterday with 306, Nanghfon being responsible for 89, Richardson for 55, Fisher for 43 (not out), and Hickson for 33. When piny ceased Newton in (.heir second innings had lost six wickets for 50. AUCKLAND.—Heavy rain flooded fho grounds, and all the, matches were postponed. NEW SOUTH WALES V. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. The cricket, match New South Whiles v. South Australia was continued at Sydney on .Saturday, In their first innings New South Whiles made 276 inns (Trnmper 44, Noble 93, Waddy 39, Gaiter 46).
