William Eckhold (Mr Irwin).—Claim £3 3s, value of a macintosh coat lent to the wife of ~ l er| dant on the 14th August last, and alleged to have been cut up and practically octroyed by defendant. The defence was a denial of the charge. Lengthy evidence was called by Mr Hanlon, who finally announced that as his witnesses had “gone over to the enemy ’’ he would be obliged to accept a nonsuit.—His Worship allowed defentlant £1 Ls costs. Judgment Summonses.—Thomson* Rridger, and Co (Mr Moore) v. M’Gregor Bros. (Dunedin), claim £7 13s 9d. on judgment sir; mons—Amount, with & costs, to be paid forthwith, in default ten days’ imprisonment. Janet Locks (Mr Wilkinson) y. Norman, Fitzpatrick, claim £1 12e, on a judgment summons.—Amount claimed, with 5s costs, to be paid forthwith, in default three days’ imprisonment. CITY POLICE COURT. (Before C. C. Graham, Esq., S.M.) Drunkenness.— Thomas Farrell was fined 5s and 2s costs, in default twenty-four hours imprisonment. Threatening Behaviour.—William Harwood, for uwing threatening behaviour in George street, wa® fined 10s and costs (2s). Remanded.—Mary Rachel Barnes was furOier remanded till' Tuesday, bail being fixed, ?elf in £2O ami one surety of the same amount. Trading on Sunday.—Tommy Hb See pleaded guilty to trading on Sunday, September 29, in his store in Stafford street. tended and unsecured, John Dow was fined 10b and costs (7s).- George Brooks pleaded guilty to allowing cattle to wander, and was fined 10b and coss (7s). Maintenance.—Robert Aitkem pleaded guilty to Laving disobeyed an order of the Court to maintain his .wife. The arrears were £59 Ob 6d. Mr Hanlon appeared for the complainant.—Defendant was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, the warrant, however, to be held over on condition that ho pays £1 a week towards complainant’s support.
