Over 9,000 people attended the sacred concert given by the Besses o’ tK’ Barn Band on tho Exhibition Sports Ground yesterday afternoon by way of memorial to the late Right. Hon. R. J. Seddon. The takings at the gates amounted to £446 9s 6d, winch will be increased to over £SOO from the sale of programmes and reserved seats. This amount will be handed over by the band to Mrs Seddon, to be applied by her to whichever of the Seddon memorial funds she may dec.de pu. A new case has been placed in the Agri- j cultural Department’s Court at the Exhi- | hition, containing samples of Cape, Turkey, and Australian mohair. The collection includes liair as taken from the goats, samples I of “ tops ” (or the material after it has been washed and combed), specimens of yarn, and finally of the finished materials made I from the mohair, oons.stiug of ladies’ dress 1 fabrics of great variety, some of winch j have all the appearance of silk and plushes I which are largely used for upholstering puri poses. The collection was presented by Sir Titus Salt to- Mr E. A. Scammell, who is an enthusiast regarding the value of the Angora goat to the Commonwealth.
