When the case was befor the 'Court on the 12th inst., accused pleaded guilty.—Mr Falconer and Major Gumming said they would do what they cculd to get work for the bay.—The Magistrate, in cautioning the lad, said It appears you deserted from your ship in order to remain in New Zealand, and when yon liave remained you get up to.tricks which are not allowed here. If you intend to remain in this colony it will be necessary for vou to become a gcod citizen, and in order to-do that it will bo best for you to leave town and get work in the country. You bad better take the advice of Air Falconer and Mr Gumming, who will do what they can to get you work. You will be convicted and ordered, to come up for sentence when called upon. Trespassing by Night.—James Campbell, a. stranger in the City, pleaded guilty to the cliarge that ho teas deemed to bo a rogue and a vagabond, in that ho was found night without lawful excuse* in tlie enclosed yard of Mr Frederick Hunt’s premises in Melville street. The offence was committed about 1.15 o’clock this morning. —His Worship adjourned the case until Tuesday next, so that the accused might go away to a job he said was awaiting him. If the police found him in town-on Tuesday next he was assured he would bo-sentenced to imprisonment. Noxious Weeds. —For failing to dear his section in North-east Valley of noxious weeds, John Lothian was fined IQs and. costs.
