THE ARBITRATION COURT

MR SIM'S APPOINTMENT. We received a telegram this afternoon from the Premier stating that Mr W. A. Sim, of this City, had been appointed by Cabinet Judge of the Arbitration Court. Mr Justice Chapman was called to the Supreme Court Bench on September 11, 1903, and a fortnight later was appointed President of the Arbitration Court, taking the unexpired portion of Mr Justice Cooper's term. On February 25, 1904, he was reappointed President of the Arbitration Court for three years. .Judge Chapman resigned that position to-day, six weeks before the completion of his term 3 and is succeeded by Mr Sim. During the absence of Mr Justice Edwards on twelve months' leave, Mr Justice Denniston will preside over the Supreme Court at Auckland, Mr Justice Chapman taking the business at Christchurch. It is understood that Mr R. Ulrich, formerly associate to Mr Justice Chapman, will be the associate to Mr Justice Sim.
