EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS
-TREMENDOUS -TIDAL WAVES. •
COLOMBO, January 7.
.-(Received January.-8, at 8.21 an.) Three hours after the seismograph afc Laibach had reoordeda great - submarine disturbance oh Friday tremendous tidal waves visited the southern coast of Ceylon. The phenomena were similar to those following the convulsion, at Krakatoa (Straits of Sunda) in the eighties. SYDNEY, January 7.
The seismograph at the observatory recorded severe earthquakes on January 2 and 4.
