RUMORS OF EXCHANGE.
FRANCE CEDES TAHITI TO BRITAIN. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright- - MELBOURNE, January 7. (Received January 7, at 12.37 p.m.) It is stated, on the authority of missionaries in the Pacific Islands, that Great Britain and France have completed negotiations whereby France cedes Tahiti to Great Britain, in consideration of certain territorial concessions in Btrrmah or Further India.
Mr Deakin states that he has received no communication in reference to the- matter.
