THE MASTERTON TOURNAMENT.

MASTERTON, January 7. The North Island bowling tournament opened this morning in perfect weather. The visitors were welcomed by the Masterton Club. Apologies were received from several prominent officials belonging to tho North and South 'Associations, who were unablo to be present. The Gisborno rink, who won the championship two yeans ago on their own ground, ate favorites with Green Meadows (Auckland) in tho A section), and Wellington and Carlton (Auckland) in the B section. DUNEDIN v. CALEDONIAN. Tho annual mutch between these two oldestablished clubs was played on Satuiday—fonr rinks on the Caledonian green and four rinks on the Dunedin green. On tlve Duncdin green Dunedin were 2 up. and on (he Caledonian green the Caledonians were 8 up. Caledonian thus won the lirst match for some years by 6 points. Capstick's rink won by 24 against 15. nob 18 against 15, as appears in another column.
