- WELLINGTON, January "?. 1 have the best reason for stating that the Roval Commission to inquire as to what native lands should bo dealt with to ensure them being occupied for settlement will compriso the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), Mr Justice Cooper, and Mr A. 1. Ngata, M.H.R. CHRISTCHURCH, January 7.
It is reported that an effort is being made to get u Judge of the Supreme Court to act as chairman of the) Native Land Commission. There is a difficulty owing to the earlv departure of Mr Justice Edwards for England. Mr Justice Williaiiw, on his leturn to the colony, will take over the work of ihe Otaeo judicial district. Mr Justice Cooper is in Wellington, and will remain there. The 'Press' understands that Mr Justice Denniston is likely to go to Auckland in placd of Mr Justice Edwards. In that event Mr Justice Chapman would come to Christchurch, and that would leave the Chief Justice fteo <if he thought lit to accept the appointment) to become chaiiman of tho Native Land Commission.
