OTAGO v. CANTERBURY. The ,yinn.tl fixture between these two provinces will tak* place at Carisbrook on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday next, play starting at noon on Monday and Wedrjesday, and at 2 o'clock on Christmas Day. The Canterbury team are strong in batting, and they are expected to make a lot of runs, though in the bowling department they appear somewhat weak, as J. Bennett is the only recognised first class bowler in tbo team, although Sims, Olliver, Bain, Read, and Patrick are all good change bowlers, and Sims has before to-day proved too good for Otago batsmen. Otago has a good bowling team, Fisher and Downea making any team strong in this department, and we have Eekhoff, Austen, Siedeberg, and Graham, who can all do their turn with the ball. Our batting should be all right also, as Austin, Siedeberg, Baker, Wilson, Ackroyd, Fisher, Howden, Graham, Dowries, and Williams are all likely to make rune. A batsman's wicket is promised, so the public should witness some good scoring in this match. Messrs W. H. Skitch, and G. MTDooald will act as umpires in the match Christ's College v. High School, beginning to-mor-row. . M'Farlane having notified the Selection Committee of bis inability to go to Ohristohurch with tine Otago second grade team, H. Vorretb has been selected to fifl the vacancy.
