ST. KILDA COUNCIL WORKS.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, —Your correspondent Wm. Burk displays an amazing amount of ignorance in 'his attempted reply to my letter. In the first place, I dispute flic measurements supplied to him as incorrect; secondly, I said the £2,000 was not in hand, as believed by your correspondent “Interested”; and according to Mr Burk there is £1,200, but he doesn’t tell us if he knows that £350 of that is for the Town Hall alterations. When he speaks or writes about the footpaths and roads being formed he surely docs not expect people to swallow that. They have only tn try to walk on them to find that out. There is only one formed footpath in the borough—on the north side of the Main road, from New street to Bay View road. As for street formation, I have forgotten more about it than he ever knew, and if lie thinks to blind the ratepayers to the true facts he cannot do so with me. I would advise him not to sliow his ignorafnoe by taking anyone’s figures and writing about it. As for grudging him or the other councillors a game of bowls or skittles, what 1 did. snv. was to stack to the green., where
they are more at home than in attempting to make roads or lay drains to make water nm uphill.—l am, etc., William: All ax. December 7.
