GRAND OPERA ‘FAUST.’ Tho management of tho ‘Faust’ Operascope Company believe in catering for tho people’s taste' and at people's prices, so that there should ho a crowded house tonight on tlie occasion of their initial performance. Gounod’s grand opera is tho principal attraction, and, judging from successes in other centres, this evening’s programme is above the average of "ts class. Amongst other pictures special mention is made of ‘ Savage America,’ giving most realistic pictures of life amongst the Redskins, ‘ Sherlock Koines,’ ‘ Marvellous Maori laud,’ and the life of an American fireman, all meeting with high praise. There will also be a number of comic subjects all now to Dunedin. An efficient orchestra will accompany tbe pictorial programme with appropriate music. Fisher and Wilson, musical comcdv sketch artists, will appear in a screamingly funny sketch entitled ‘ The Dude and the Chorus Girl ’ and in illustrated songs. The plan is at the Dresden, and day sales may lie procured at Jacobs's. ALHAMBRA THEATRE. The usual programme will be presented to-night. There will be a complete change to-morrow. "the CIRCUS. Wirths’ circus gives its opening performance on the Oval on Monday night. The combination is said to lie tbe strongest the enterprising Wirths Live ever introduced to New Zealand. The season will, as usual, extend over a week, and tliere will be matinees on Wednesday and Saturday. ■ THE SQUAW MAN.’ On Friday evening next. Mr Williamson’s latest attraction for the colonics—the American dramatic combination headed by Mr Charles Waldron and Miss Ola Jano Humphrey—will make their bow to a New Zealand audience at His Majesty's. The Dunedin season is limited lo eight nights, and tlie pieces staged will be ‘Tho Squaw Man’ (opening play), ‘Tho Christian,’ and ‘ The Virginian.’ GUILD SALE. Tho annual sale of work arranged by tho Ladies’ Guild of All Saints’_ Church was continued last evening, and well attended. There was no undue crowding, however, for the stalls have been well arranged, and there is ample room to move about. A pretty little comedietta, entitled ‘ A Lesson ■in Pearls,’ was staged by Misses Sale and Chapman and Air Jack -Lasther. It was performed without tlie least hitch, and created much amusement. In addition, an excellent musical programme was provided, composed chiefly of coon songs and choruses. Thu vocalists were as follow : .Misses Ewen, Chapman, Sale, Ulrich, Roysc, Messrs A. Ewen, J. HaggiU, Dodgsluin, S. NeiF, and Wilkinson. Accompaniments were played by Aliss Busck ipiono) and Misses Barron and Fotheringliam (violin). At intervals opportunity was given to all to make rounds of the various stalls, or to indulge in a cup of tea or a plate of strawberries and cream, and quite satisfactory business resulted.
