TRAMWAY MATTERS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I sco by the tramways report that the cars are not paying. I aui not a bit surprised at this state of affairs. The other day about 200 persons wore waiting to bo conveyed to the trotting meeting, ami- not a car going. Tho-consequence, was that a few waggonettes drove up and scooped the pool. loiter a car hove in sight, and after getting nil its passengers seated, tho couductor, or someone else, discovered that it was not going to Tahuna. Park, so out we all Imd to bundle. And when the car,for tiie course did come up ■it was simply rushed. Again, the St. Clair baths, ! believe, belong to tho municipality: and yet on Sunday morning, during bathing hours, there is no means of reaching them except by walking, and I have known this to be done right from Normandy. If it is wicked to run a car before one o'clock on-Sundays, why don't the Council put on a drag? I am sure- it would pay, .m a dip in the briny this hot weather is voiy refreshing.—-I am, etc., E.L.
