ENTERTAINMENTS.
FULLERS'. Fullers’ Entertainers played to a big bouse last night, and the excellent and varied programme was thoroughly enjoyed. To-mor-row afternoon a matinee will be held, when special prices will be charged, for which the public will lie able to see tho same show as is presented in tho evening. In the company's ranks are live Her/, brothers, tne Power brothers, the Rosebuds, Monaghan and Sheehan, Lillian Loftua, Harvoy and Morris, Will Stevens, Will Hollow, Fred Roseveare, and many other capable jicople. The programme of the week is announced for this evening. HARRY IUCKAKDS’S VAUDEVILLE COMPANY. Considerable interest is already taken in the forthcoming season of Mr Harry Richards’s Vaudeville Company, commencing on Monday evening next at His Majesty’s Theatre. Rrinn, Seymour and Dupre, Harry Bedford, and other members of the company have wide reputations. The company are now playing at Christchurch, where enormous crowds are attending nightly. filling His Majesty’s Theatre to overflowing. A strong feature in the success of (his combination is that the entertainment presented appeals to all classes of theatregoers and non-thearregoers. It is of interest to musicians, athletes, and those in search of fun and frolic, and is said to be free from *ll vulgarity. The box plan opened this morning at the Dresden, and already a large number of seats are booked. ORANGE LODGE SOCIAL. The Loyal Orange Lodge No. 12, William Johnston, held a soda' in the Forbury School Gymnasium on Tuesday. The chair was occupied by Bro. H. K Cook. G.C. Musical items were given by Aleadamc.s Gilmour and Ford. Alisa Arlidgo, and Bros. Smith, Jameson, and Robertson (songs), Bro. O. Leech (pianoforte solo), Air T. Amos (flute solo), Albs Scott (recitation), and Bros. Patton and i-evcli (duet). Air G. A, Leech acted as accompanist. Bro. J MTntyre, I.P.AL, was presented with a Past Master's certificate, on the completion of twelve months in tho office of Worshipful Alaster. P.G.M. Bro. -Garrick made the presentation, and said that Bro. MTntyro had rendered, faithful service to Lodge No. 12 and to Orangoism generally. When visiting other lodges ho had learned of their brother's devotion to the Order. He felt assured that, unlike some, Bro. APlntvre would not run away mid leave them after he had received his certificate, hut would be regularly with them. He wislied the recipient of the certificate long life and happiness. Bro. MTntyre suitably responded. Refreshments were banded round during the evening. , THE GAELIC SOCIETY. The ordinary monthly gathering of the Gaelic Society took place last evening. The chief (Mr Dugald APPherson) was in the chair, and was supported by Alessrs Al'Kenzie and ALatheson (chieftains). Tho Chairman intimated tho receipt of a letter and a sprig of heather from the Scottish singer Aliss Jessie Alaclaehlau, who wrote: "In kindly remembrance of tho many kindnesses received from all Scotsmen during my happy visit to Dunedin. Good wishes to all. Thine aye truly.’’ The chief, on behalf of the Committee, presented the hallkecpor (Air Flynn) with a framed photo of the Executive and the Committee of the society as a token of their appreciation of his uniform attention to the members and his care of the property. The Rev. D. Alaclcnnan, who was present, mentioned that a. Gaelic service would be conducted in Chalmers Presbyterian Church on Sabbath first by the Rev. J. At. Fraser, of Waipu. An examination has been held in connection with the Gaelic class attached to the church. Tho results, which are most encouraging, will be announced at a future meeting of the society. In the interval of the musical programme dancing was indulged in to the music of Pipe-major APKechnie. SAVIERI DRAMATIC COMPANY. For to-morrow night all preparations arc being made by Mr Savieri to makq. his short season a complete success. Tho company have been considerably strengthened. The orchestra will he jirosided over by Air Harry Hawkins, R.A.AL, and Air Salvatos Seminos has written some special music for tho production. The box plan is now on view at the Dresden. BAND FETE. 'Pile massed bands are putting forward au attractive programme for to-morrow. Proceedings will commence at 1.30, and the selection of marches, quartets, solos, itc-, ought to please the moat fastidious. Tho Tramways Committee have placed five open cars at ‘the disposal of the performing !Kinds, so that some spirited music will he discoursed en route. Dr Butemenfc will act as judge, and have the assistance of a well-known citizrncss. As the bauds are always ready and willing to give their servici s to a deserving object, jt is to be hoped that their appeal on thja occasion wdl meet with a liberal response.
