Vatican have reached an agreement relative to the Associations [One effect, of the Associations Law m Franco was to drive out many of the religious orders who refused to conform to its provisions. Some of these orders settled in Spain, and tho Spanish Government were confronted with tire question of what legislation would bo necessary for their control. A Bill was finally mtroduiced in tbo Cortes subjecting the associations to tho same law as industrial associations, and compelling the members to become naturalised subjects of Spain One of th© orders which left France was tbo Benedictines, who carry on in Spain the manufacture of tho liqueur with which then- name was so long associated while they wore at the Grande Chartreuse, in France. It will also be recalled thait some of tho French orders crossed over to England and settled there.]
