Graham, at present relieving au Purakanui, was recommended to the Education Board for appointment Miss Marion M. A. Ker, of Dunedin, has been appointed to the charge of the school at Hilton, some twenty miles out of Timaru. Mr William Fenwick lived a simple life—apart from his office duties a quiet life—and it fitted well with the man and hit manner that the funeral this morning should be of a private character, the mourners who followed to the Southern Cemetery being the deceased's immediate relatives the directors and staff of the * Otago Daily Time?' Company, and representatives of the ' Evening Star.' The Very Rev. Dean Fitchett read the burial service. Detective J. M'Leod, who has joined the ranks of the Benedicts, was last evening presented with a travelling rug by a few friends. Mr J. Robertson, who made the presentation, ref-arcd specially to the good work done by Detective M'Leod both in Dunedin and' Wellington. Station-sergeant King is at present absent from town on holiday leave. Dr W. J. Anderson, Assistant InspectorGeneral of Schools, is in town on departmental business, and will remain here for a fe:r days. He expects to visit Invercargill at week end. . ■ Prior to his departure from Lawrence to take up a position in the Dunedin office of the Bank of New Zealand, Mr Tanton Nichols was presented by has fellow-em-ployees in the local branch with a gladstone bag.
