PREFERENTIAL TRADE

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.

ADELAIDE, September 25

(Received September 25, at 9.47 a.m.) The sub-committee of the Chamber of Commerce reported adversely on the British Preference Trade proposals. The latter are not considered an important advantage to Great Britain, because so many of the articles that are affected by the duties ape American or foreign foodstuffs of special manufacture. It is also pointed out that the lnsignncance of foreign imports compared with Australian exports involve possibilities of retaliation on the part of the countries .affected.
