Colville, C.8., who commanded that regiment, has received the honor of knighthood, having been promoted to K.C-B. in the late list of Birthday honor?. Ho was an excellent officer, and received the C.B. many years ago for his services in New Zealand, where he -was severely wounded in action near Warea on October 22, 1865. A remarkable incident occurred at the Bisley meeting. Colonel Gibb, a famous English marksman, after scoring a string of "bulls" in the) Elcho Shield, was debited ■with a "miss," which was challenged, and the marker's decision given as correct. He put .up several more "bulls,"- then a message came by telephone from the trench that the mossing shot had been discovered in the exact centre of the target. The matter was referred to the Executive, but the score, according to the rules, had' to be disallowed.
