The secretary of the Otago Tennis Association has received intimation from the Canterbury Association that it is rumored up there that some of the South players are not going to Christ-church during the. championship meeting, because they cannot get accommodation. The Canterbury secretary (Mr E. S. Tayler) wishes it to be made known that if /intending competitors who anticipated difficulty of this kind would write to him (Box 323, Christchurch) he would be pleased to arrange accommodation for them. Maniapoto has been scratched for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. At the Rosehill meeting on Saturday, the 15th inst., several horses engaged in the principal events at the A.J.C. meeting-
(7.12, Hewitt up) in the Rosehill Oup after a most exritmg finish by a bead, the 9f 100 yds being left behind in 2min 16£ sec There were thirty-two starters, Cofiarit being favorite at 5 to 2, while fourteens were obtainable about the winner. Famous won the Spring Stakes, w.f.a., lm, beating The Bairn by a short head, with Marvel Loch third. Time, lmin 57isec Berthier (10.0) won the Rydalmere Mile in lmin 45sec.
