The report to bo submitted at the annual meeting of the Tahuna Park Trotting Club on Friday is as follows:—Your Committee congratulate members upon the satisfactory results of the past season. The balance brought forward from last year was £143 9s 2d, and after spending £252 2s 5d on permanent improvements, and adding £155 to the stakes, we now close the season with £lB7 5s 4d in the bank. Upon 1 the completion of the alterations to the racing track your Committee decided to offer a prize of £25 to the horse trotting the fastest mile, and are pleased to report that this innovation has been highly successful, and has been the means of attracting a great number to the club's meetings who hitherto did not attend. At the spring meeting Elector put up a record of 2min 19|scc, and at the autumn meeting Fritz reduced this to 2min 17|sec, while at the last winter meeting Myosotis further reduced it to 2min 16|sec (the present record), and as this was done under unfavorable conditions it clearly proves that the track is one of the fastest in the colony. The president, vice-president, and three members of committee retire, and. in accordance with the rules the following have been proposed for election:—President, Messrs S. Myers and W. J. Gore; vicepresident, Mr R. G. Hudson; committeeMessrs L. C. Hazlett, Jos. Mills, J. A. Sligo, and F. J. Townsend. As there are more than the required number proposed, a ballot will be taken. The membership-roll of the club is seventy-five, of whom 6ix arc half-yearly members and six life members. Your Committee consider if the benefit of a club room were better known there would be a large increase in the membership of tho club. From the balance-sheet it win be seen that the finances of tho club are very satisfactory, a surplus of £l7B 19s 4d" being shown, along with a cash balance of £ls 16s 4d. The subscriptions received are some £l3 less than last year. Billiard receipts are £lO more, this to a large extent being due to the improvements made on tho table. It will be noticed that the rent paid this year is £lB 15s 3d more than last. This is accounted for by the fact that only three months' rent' was paid in last year's balance-sheet, the last quarters rent being in dispute over the amount of rates charged against the club. Ihe annual meeting was held on the 10th March, 1906, and, thanks to „.io energetic Sports Committee (Messrs Sullivan, Wall, Minn, and Falk, secretary), was very successful. £76 was given away in prize-money, £lls was taken at tho pates, and entrance money amounted to £25 7s.
