(Received August 23, at 10.22 a.m.) Mr Deakin having again pressed for a reply re the New Hebrides, has received the following cablet from Lord Elgin (Colonial Secretary):—" I am afraid that at present I can only say Ihat a reply will be sent at the earliest possible date."
