A DUEL AT SEA
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, August 22. A telegram from Shanghai gives some particulars of the duel between Captain Ishikawa and Kawai (chief engineer) aboard the cruiser Itsukushima in July. The fight took place aboard the cruiser off Saigon, and Captain Ishikawa, who received twenty wounds, was taken to a hospital, where he died. Kawai refused to commit hari-kari, alleging that his honor was involved, and he is now awaiting a court-martial. Captain Ishikawa was decorated by the Emperor for his services during the late wan The quarrel is said to have been over an Australian lady moving in fashionable, circles.
