The executive offieere of the Orange lodges in Dunedin authorise the Press to •-'tate that the lodges have no sympathy with the reported resolution of the Nelson Orange Lodge re protesting against Sir J. G. Ward as Premier of the oniony, such protest being against the foundation principles of the Order. During the week 19 patients have been admitted to th© Hospital and There was one death, that of a child named Allan Daniel. Remaining under treatment, 119. The' results of the tenth week of the egg-laying competition at Blenheim show a total for the week of 1,714, and a grand total of 8,988. The highest aggregates are :—A. and P. Association, 224 ; Ching, 204; Brooks, 200 (all -white Leghorns); 'Roves (silver Wyando tes), 192; Sturrocks (black Orpingtons), 186. Sawing out sections of the skull in'order to give the brain room to develop symmetrically seems a rather delicate and dangerous operation, but it is one that has on several occasions been performed with perfect success. While workmen were removing a platform used for a meeting at Castlebncige, Wexford, they found three young children huddled asleep in a bacon .box, which had been one of the supports. Their father, Owen Flynn, was sentenced to ■ fourteen dins for desertion.
