Phe object of the said Bill is to provide tb'it the Otago Book Trust shall have power—(a) To purchase or lease lands and. to erect an abattoir and’ to provide the necessary plant for carrying on the business of an Abattoir and Slaughterhouse for tlio slaughter of stock for export beyond the Colony and for the purposes of the Borough of Port Chalmers and the surrounding District charging proper fees and charges therefor. (b) To Lease an Abattoir for the above purposes. (c) TO’ ‘Enlarge the Trust's Cool Stores at Port Chalmers. (d) To Soil and Dispose of the Abattoir , w erected as aforesaid or Let the same the proceeds of such sale (if any) being devoted to tbs payment of the moneys borrowed for the erection of the Abattoir. 1 o empower the Trust to raise the stun of “5,000 by way of loan for the aforesaid purposes at a rale of interest not to exceed £5 per cent. To provide that tho Abattoir so erected shall be an Abattoir ’ and a “ Meat export Slaughter-house ” within the meaning of “ The Slaughtering and Inspection Act 1000 ” To provide that the Council of the Borough of Port Chaimors may delegate to the Trust the power io establish an Abattoir upon such terms and conditions as with the previous approval of the Minister for Agriculture may be agreed upon AND that in such case the rights powers and duties conferred by “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act 1900“ upon the delegating local authority shall devolve upon the Trust. To provide that all moneys received by the Trust under the borrowing powers contained m thus Act snail bo paid to a separate account and that the proposed Act shall be deemed to be a Special Act within bln? meaning of Section 188 of “The Harbors Act 1878.” A copy of the said proposed Bill j 3 deposited in the Stipendiary Magistrate’s Court at Port Chalmers, at whieh place tho same is open for public inspection during office hours.
