PREMATURE BURIAL.
The danger of premature burial has just been illustrated in the case of Mrs William S'crwood, living near La Crosse, Wisconsin, U.S.A. Mrs Sherwood, who (according to the 'New York Herald') had only been married a week, was attacked by pneumonia, to which she apparently succumbed. She was placed in a coffin, which, however, was not nailed down, and some hours afterwards persons in an adjoining chamber were startled to find the supposed "corpse" sitting up. She was placed in a hot hath, and after having regained strength she stated that, whilst fully aware of her preparations for her burial, she had been unable to trove or speak.
